Today we were learning about the surface of the Earth. We read a book called Earth Our Planet in Space by Seymour Simon. Then we watched a quick you tube video that should us a view all the way around the Earth. We talked about what we read and what we saw. Our conclusions are that the Earth is covered with water as a liquid, water as a solid (ice), and land. Then we wanted to know which one of those things covered the most surfaces of the Earth.
To help us with that we played a game called under our thumbs. We made a circle and we passed around an inflatable globe. Each time someone caught the globe we marked down whether their thumbs were on land, water, or ice. Our thumbs landed on water 29 times, land 8 times, and ice just 1 time. Here are a few pictures of us playing our game.
